ARROW PIECES

These clocks sculptures were inspired by a passage from Walter Benjamin's Theses on the Philosophy of History where he writes revolutionaries' attempt to 'stop the day' during "the July revolution [of 1830]…On the first evening of fighting it turned out that the clocks in towers were being fired on simultaneously and independently from several places in Paris."

These clocks', stopped 10 minutes before the start of the typical 9-5 workday, are kinetic--the second hand taps a continual and futile stutter against the edge of the steel arrow.
