ADJUNCT | The Center for Contemporary Art & Culture, Pacific Northwest College of Art, Portland, OR
In an effort to materialize the often invisible horde of adjunct instructors who keep the university running, we began making these 'adjunct bricks.' First we carved them by hand, then we created an edition in cast concrete. We use the bricks as props and conversation pieces. Below, for an exhibition called Hidden Assembly, we collaborated with students in Sharita Towne’s 'Art in Context' class at Pacific Northwest College of Art. Students were invited to make variable arrangements with the bricks throughout the building over the course of the exhibition.
